critique please!

I've been working on a logo with my sister Amy, and this is what we've come up with. I'd really like some feedback from anyone. (Constructive criticism is welcome)!

Does it have quick readability? What kinds of things would you guess that they sell? Does it look professional? What was your first impression?

Thank you!

Hello! You might remember the crazy red head named Elissa (that would be me). Anyway, I decided to make the world a better place by saying a little sum sum about your marvelous logo. I like it for one. My guess is that it's some sort of food, more specifically pastas, due to the "Saucy" and the icon that resembles a pasta wheel. So if it is, that's really cool. If not, well than I probably don't deserve to live. My only concern is that others might not get it as quickly due to your color scheme, because the pasta wheel can be mistaken for a flower. And purple and pink just don't convey pasta as much to me. If it is pasta I would look into your reds, yellows, browns, and even a lime polka dot. So that's my story. And I'm going to feel like an idiot when I'm entirely wrong. By the way I am in rexburg once again.

I am guessing that this logo is for your sister's jewelry business? If that's the case and it's not a pasta wheel like Elissa thinks :) I think that the symbol abstractly conveys jewelry as do the girly colors - not sure if I love the strait magenta though. I also like your font choice for "creations" paired with the other. However, I would try playing with that "s". I like the "aucy," but the "s" seems a little disconnected. I am not sure if it's a font or something you have drawn, but I don't think the shape is worthing very well. I think I would also play with the size of the icon and making it all flow together a bit more. Maybe play with the spacing? Or try making the "creations" pink as well? Right now it is reading as three separate parts to me. Krick, I am glad you posted this. It's fun to see what you are up to. I really like your concept here and am curious to see how it all comes together!!

Hi Krick,

I would guess that the business sells baby clothes and jewelry based on the font and colors. I know you are surprised that I would have an ounce of talent when it comes to art, and I don't. I like it.

I think it looks excellent. "Saucy" makes me feel like it is some sort of food product, but it is clear that you're trying to appeal to a feminine audience. In my opinion, the type and the mark are competing for attention, which I think is a value or intensity problem. Maybe tone down the colors for one or the other (probably the type). Looks great, though.

It looks really good. I like the different fonts. I would guess maybe you sell Sauce (the obvious choice) but the colors and whimsy of it tell me it's something else. Whimsical, fun crafty things maybe or maybe even fun langere (sp?). I hope that helps. BTW I'm a friend of Mindys.

As for your logo, I still can't quite figure out what it is selling, but I have a few guesses:

Hair Accessories
Beaded Bracelets or maybe...
Charm Bracelets?
A hair salon...?
A rodeo type thing b/c it kinda looks like rope.
A sunscreen? (the curly sun on the left?)
Or a clothing line...!?

Please let me know if I guessed correctly!! I'd like to learn more!! I know you will take these thoughts in the right way with all of your BFA critics I'm sure nothing phases ya now!!!

ps I do think that it has readability I'm not too crazy about the color choice b/c it instantly says "little girl" to me, and as I cannot benefit from that in knowing what the product is ;) ;) I can't figure it out!! You know I love you and I hope only the best things in life find you!!

I forgot to give you the link to my blog! its: jacobandcassiewalters.blogspot.com
